SEISMIC/OSHPD

The unique circumstances associated with building in seismic areas require 

knowledge, experience and expertise.

PK Associates has designed numerous buildings in California and other 

high seismic areas.  Working closely with the Office of the Statewide Health

Planning and Development (OSHPD), PK Associates has worked with various medical

and health professionals to deliver buildings that are designed to resist seismic forces.

As noted in California Senate Bill 1953: "hospital buildings that are considered hazardous

and at risk of collapse or significant loss of life in the event of an earthquake or

other natural disaster must be replaced or retrofitted to higher seismic safety standards by

2013, or later with an approved extension."- OSHPD website

PK Associates can assist hospitals, general contractors, and architects with design to

handle retrofitting and/or reconstruction to effectively comply with SB 1953.
